My teaching philosophy

Currently I enjoy the balance of teaching and performing in my life. While I have taught violin throughout my adult life and viola also, more recently, I find myself increasingly drawn to the joys of teaching - of nurturing others as they grow into their musicianship. My hope is that all my students will develop a love and appreciation of music and, of course, enjoy learning to create music in their own unique way. Increasing students' learning potential by creating online and interactive etudes, duets and solo songs is one of my interests.

About Me

I am a native Seattleite, and started my musical life in the Seattle Schools music program in the 4th grade. As a student I played in the Seattle Youth Symphony, and started college at the University of Washington. I continued at the North Carolina School of the Arts and subsequently spent the first 20 years of my career playing in the Charlotte Symphony, performing chamber music and touring Europe and the East Coast with various ensembles. I returned to Seattle in the mid 90's, and began playing as a substitute musician with the various groups in town - Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, and others. I also enjoy playing with the 5th Ave. Theatre orchestra. In addition to enjoying performing, listening to, and teaching most kinds of music, I enjoy gardening, camping, cooking and hiking.
